FAQs

Q: What is Snapherd?

A: Snapherd is a word game. And a picture game. It's both, and very easy to play. Simply read the catchword or phrase featured, and take a picture of what you think best represents the subject matter. Images can be emailed, MMSed (media messaging), or uploaded from a camera phone or computer. Other players (including you!) vote on their favorite images, and the score for each image is tallied automatically. So why don't you get out there and win?!

Q: Is there a mobile version of this website?

A: You bet! Just go to m.snapherd.com on your phone, and login.

Q: How do I send an MMS?!

A: It varies quite a bit from phone to phone, so you'll have to check your phone's manual for the specifics. Generally, though, you can take a picture using your camera's photo function, and then send it "to a friend" or "to a contact" immediately after taking the photo. You select that option, enter your Snapherd email address (get that from your Edit Profile page), and send.

Q: Can I email a photo from my computer?

A: Of course! It works the same way as if you did it from your phone: just compose an email (in your email client of choice) to your special Snapherd email address, and attach your photo. That's it!

Q: Something broke. Fix it!

A: Sure! But you'll need to tell me what is broken before I can fix it. If you think it is a bug, head over to Snapherd's UserVoice page where you can post the problem. Otherwise, If you think the problem is only happening to you, send me an email using the contact form below.

Q: What timezone is the timer/countdown based in?

A: The timer is based in the US Eastern timezone (EST or GMT -5). Everyone worldwide has plenty of time to submit their picture, though!

Q: How does the comments system work? Is the comment score separate from the photo score?

A: The points for the comments are separate from the photos, but voting works in the same way. Comment points do not factor into your overall score, and are simply localized to each particular photo. Eventually, this may evolve into some sort of "reputation" system, but as of right now, it is just a way to mark the quality of comments.

Q: I sent a picture from my phone a few minutes ago, why isn't it displaying yet?

A: Sometimes it takes a little while for the image to get processed by the system. If the picture doesn't show up within an hour, contact me.

Q: Can I change my vote? Can I undo my vote?

A: Yes, you can do both. To "unvote," just click on your vote again to undo it. To change your vote, click on the opposite vote link.
